The Healing

The victim of abuse ends up scarred, mentally and emotionally – and, of course all the countless instances of physical scars. Very little can be done about physical scars, they are the marks of the physical beating, and the signs of the body’s attempts at healing.

But the emotional and mental scars left by the abuser are more subtle, and run deep: in fact they are not scars, but more like open festering sores. When the person steps out of the abusive relationship, these sores must be nursed – the healing leaves no mental or emotional scars.
